🏆Our 2024 State Champion Junior High Quiz Bowl team was recognized last night at our March School Board Meeting as a Wampus Cat Pride recognition! Take a look at this list of their accomplishments this Quiz Bowl Season! Coach Tye mentioned that the team went 75 and 8! What a record!!
They have Won the following awards for 2023 -2024 Quiz Bowl season:
-Whirlwind Pre-Season Tournament 1st place
-Tiger Invitational LR CHS 1st place Team A and 1st PLace Team B
-Sand Lizard Invitational 1st place
-Whit Hall Invitation 2nd place
-8th Annual FQB Team A 3rd Place and Team B 4th place out of 64 teams
-AGQBA JH Regional Tournament 7A 1st place
-AGQB Junior High State 7A 1st place
-Most tournaments are 7 to 8 rounds lasting an hour each round for a total of 7 to 8 hours of mental academic play on a Saturday.

Our CPSD Champion Student for the Month of March is Bruce Bolling, a 4th grader from Ellen Smith Elementary! Bruce was recognized at our March School Board meeting last night for being an all around Champion student! Principal Shannon Riner of Ellen Smith Elementary stated that Bruce is the face of Ellen Smith which includes having characteristics of kindness, hardworking, perseverance and goal oriented. He embodies everything that Ellen Smith values!

🚙 Stop #9 of the Conway School Board's "CPSD Road Trip" took place at Preston & Florence Mattison Elementary.🌟
School Board members and District Leaders were warmly welcomed by beaming smiles! A round of applause for Principal Mrs. Shannon Black, Assistant Principal Mr. Johnson, Instructional Facilitator Mrs. Spence, and Counselor Ms. Minter for their engaging presentation on all things PFME! PE Teacher Coach Schichtl and Nurse Hogan showcased the Mattison Fast & Furious Running Club and Elite Running Club, while Librarian Mrs. Henderson and Art Teacher Mrs. Collins highlighted the spectacular Mattison Thanksgiving Parade that graced the fall season. GT Specialist Mr. Duran led his Quiz Bowl students in a friendly competition against our Board Members, making it a truly enjoyable experience! They truly are a remarkable team!
Adding to the joy, Mr. Sorrells' Third Grade Choir delivered a special performance of "We are the World" – a delightful treat for everyone present.

District leaders from Conway Public Schools attended the University of Central Arkansas' Teacher Career Fair last Friday. It was a great event for meeting and recruiting teachers. Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, Dr. Karen Lasker, the Human Resource team, and Administrators had a wonderful time talking with potential Wampus Cats educators!

Today, Mrs. Tell and her Culinary Arts students had the pleasure of hosting a special "Guest Chef," none other than Mrs. Capri Salaam, distinguished as the Arkansas Teacher of the Year and an expert in the art of Gumbo. The students wrapped up their in-depth exploration of the history and intricate process behind everything Gumbo, culminating in an engaging and flavorful lab session.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Krebbs Brothers in NRL for their generous donation of an industrial rice cooker to enhance Mrs. Tell's program. This invaluable addition allowed the students to pair perfectly cooked rice with the Gumbo, creating a delicious dish that truly elevated the culinary experience. Your support contributes significantly to the success and growth of our culinary education initiatives.
🏆The district hosted another successful Champion Circle Community Meeting at Simon Middle School this past Monday night! Our district leaders, Superintendent Dr. Jeff Collum, Deputy Superintendent Jason Black, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andy Ashley, along with Media Relations Coordinator Kaitlyn Ryals, shared exciting insights into CPSD's initiatives, specifically focusing on safety, facilities, and communications. We extend our gratitude to the community members who attended, providing valuable support and feedback!

♟️Conway students excelled at the CPSD Chess Tournament – the largest in district history! 🏆 Chess Tournament Directed by Mr. Lynn Duran, GT Teacher at Preston and Florence Mattison Elementary praised the dedication of all the coaches and highlighted the growth from participating schools.
The event saw 86 entries, prompting a move to Hendrix College for a spacious venue. Top 8 kids from the 7th grade division received permission to compete in the CAAS regional chess tournament this Saturday in North Little Rock. United States Congressman French Hill visited our Conway High School JROTC classes this week to inspire and uplift students on their educational and JROTC journeys.
