Several Carl Stuart students participated in a CPS chess tournament earlier this week. They enjoyed playing many games of chess with players from the other elementary and middle schools in our district.

D3 combed the campus today to help clean up trash. This was a great community service opportunity that ties in with 5th-grade science learning about the effect that we all have on the environment. Today, they decided to be a positive effect.

Fifth graders! We want YOU to be involved in the Conway music program next year! Joining band, choir, or orchestra is a great way to learn to sing or play an instrument, make new friends, and be an important part of a team. You’ll be seeing us perform at each school soon. Once counselors send home course selection information, simply choose band, choir, or orchestra and we will get you plugged in! Choir students already have their instrument – their voice – but are welcome to visit with the choir director at their school. New band and orchestra students will receive info later this Spring about trying out the instruments. We want you to JOIN MUSIC! For more info on our programs and teachers, visit joinmusicconway.weebly.com.

A special shout out to Mrs. Henthorne during Gifted and Talented Awareness Week! Thank you for all you do to support our students!

CSMS families, we are so excited about our Read-a-thon! Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Friday, March 1, 2024.
If you'd like to go ahead and sign your reader up, you can do that here: https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323738303432/1 and follow the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read, and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates!

Valentine's Day at CSMS was pretty awesome! In the morning the student council started the day off by distributing candy grams. The afternoon activities offered students a variety of options to enjoy the holiday. Students rotated between activities in the classroom, and the Valentine Dance. Many enjoyed their popcorn and a drink while hanging out with their friends. At the end of the day, there were several drawings for door prizes.

The 6th grade celebrated the Lunar New Year and the culmination of their study of Ancient China by having a Taste of Asia last week. The students were able to sample fried rice, ramen, dumplings, egg rolls, wontons, crab rangoons, sweet and sour soup, mandarin oranges, dragon fruit, and star fruit. Thank you to Mulan, Umani, and the many parents who donated food, chopsticks, and fortune cookies!
